Specification Rubber Products welcomed William “Bill” Briggs, Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Jon Rich, Deputy Regional Administrator of the U.S. SBA, Congressman Gary Palmer, and Jonathan Brumlow, Policy Advisor to Governor Kay Ivey, for a tour of our manufacturing operations and a discussion on the importance of domestic manufacturing.
During the visit, company leadership shared an overview of Spec Rubber’s history, manufacturing capabilities, and ongoing investments in growth. Guests toured the facility and saw firsthand how our team manufactures 100% American-made molded rubber gaskets and sealing solutions that support critical infrastructure and help deliver clean, safe drinking water to communities across the nation.

The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase Spec Rubber’s recent expansion—a 120,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Pelham, located less than half a mile from its Alabaster manufacturing facility. This new facility represents the largest expansion in company history. The new facility houses shipping and receiving operations, finished-goods inventory, raw-materials storage, and administrative offices, further enhancing the company’s capacity to serve customers and support future growth.
The visit highlighted the vital role small businesses play in Alabama’s economy and underscored the importance of continued investment in American manufacturing. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our story and demonstrate how domestic manufacturing drives innovation, creates quality jobs, and strengthens communities across the country.
“I would like to thank SBA Deputy Administrator Briggs and his team, along with our other distinguished guests, for taking the time to visit with us,” said Spec Rubber President Steven A. Smith. “I also want to commend SBA Administrator Loeffler and Deputy Administrator Briggs for their commitment to meeting with small businesses across the country and listening to the challenges and opportunities we face. Our team is especially appreciative of the current administration’s support for American manufacturing, including the recently passed ‘No Tax on Overtime’ provision. That measure is making a meaningful difference for many of our teammates and their families.”
